Tuesday 19th April – bike **** – Around Felixstowe with lunch overlooking the Orwell – sunny periods, warm but a tad breezy!

A mild day of sunny periods with a good breeze from the NE building I was tempted by a windsurf at The Dip but with high water in the middle of the day making launch difficult I decided to pack lunch and head on our bikes to show Mag the short-wooded footpath I discovered yesterday! With Mag making a trip up town then sorting out her compost, then bumping into our neighbours for an amusing chat we did not leave home until gone two! We took the same route as I did yesterday to Candlet Road leading to the new footpath, then through the new houses at Trimley St Martin to Grimston lane with the aim to stop at the seat at the top of the lane leading down to Loompit lake but there was someone already there. So we walked 50m into the farmers field just around the corner where the deer like to stand, sadly no deer today just warm sunshine with top views over a wheat field down to the Orwell:) Sheltered from the breeze it was really still, quiet too, just the faint rumble from traffic on the A 14 with loads of different butterflies , possibly a Sparrow Hawk and a couple of buzzards circling high above, just perfect, yummy cheese and pickle sandwich too:) Then we continued through the tree lined path, stopping to feed the fish then coming out at Trimley. I made a detour to The Dip to see if anyone was windsurfing as Mag headed for home. Sadly no one was out sailing especially as the conditions looked ideal, perhaps I will check it out there tomorrow as we have several days of wind coming now! Back along the prom to The Fludgers surprisingly quiet, up Bent Hill with my gears behaving and not slipping and home for cuppa and cake, we pensioners know now to live!
